If your organization receives federal funds, you fall under Title VI of the act, which prevents any discrimination by such “programs and activities.” Since 2000, the federal government has required such organizations to make reasonable efforts to provide “meaningful access” for limited English proficient (LEP) persons.
The pain, suffering, costs, wasted resources, and even deaths that result from medical errors are almost always the result of a breakdown in communication.
Participants will learn about the role and history of ASL in the Deaf community and how the language shaped the Deaf Culture.
We’re on record that in-person interpretation delivers the best results. However, as we see Covid-19 cases and hospitalizations surging throughout the United States, it’s clear that interpreters will mainly be available via video or telephone for some time to come.
