Title: Traffic Stops: OWI Enforcement

Presenter: Police Lieutenant Joaquin Alonzo

Description:  The focus of this webinar is Operating While Intoxicated Enforcement. As remote interpreting becomes the norm, visual cues that we often rely on are limited or eliminated, and familiarizing yourself with core concepts becomes critical. In addition to the lack of visual cues, the interpreter may face other challenges such as a poor remote connection, poor sound quality, or unclear speech. Normal interpreter protocol, such as requests for clarification or repetition, may cause confusion in a situation that could become hostile at any moment. However, accuracy and clarity on the part of the interpreter could affect whether or not the case will be prosecuted or tossed out. Join us in learning the steps, concepts, and terminology of OWI traffic stops and be prepared for your next remote encounter!
