The SWITS BIFF Latino Event Celebrates its Second Season of Film

The Beloit International Film Festival | BIFF
Friday Feb. 14th – Sunday Feb. 23rd, 2014

The Beloit International Film Festival is now in its ninth season of presenting films and events in downtown Beloit. Last year SWITS initiated and sponsored the first ever BIFF Latino. Saul Arteaga and SWITS wanted to introduce and showcase Spanish language films to the broader community of film fans attending BIFF.

This season SWITS and BIFF are presenting two films:

• Musgo — A crime thriller from Spain
• Hasta Nunca — A drama from Uruguay

Showcasing the Diversity in Latin Cultures

SWITS will be presenting and celebrating the diversity of various Spanish speaking cultures through BIFF Latino.

Last year SWITS presented the films After Lucia and Sin Nombre, both from Mexico, and the film Days of Santiago from Peru. All three films reflect the art form from the perspective of these two distinct cultures.

This year’s featured films, Musgo from Spain and Hasta Nunca from Uruguay also reflect two unique cultures of the international Spanish speaking community.

SWITS Interpreting, Translation and Localization

Localization is an important part of everything SWITS does for clients including health care, legal, governmental and municipal services providers. There’s no such thing as a single, universal Spanish interpretation and translation. Customizing client interpreting and translation to fit the distinct linguistic differences between the all the varied and distinct Spanish speaking communities is something in which SWITS specializes. It’s part of what distinguishes SWITS from others interpreting and translation service providers.
